On May 3, Shelburne Farms held a free Calf Open House, allowing Eddie McCaffray '09 and Emmeline Cardozo '09 to get acquainted with chickens, pictured above. Those interested in farming were able to check out the farm's Brown Swiss Cow herd which makes milk for Shelburne Farm's farmhouse cheddar, while kids explored the barns and took wagon rides around the property and students tried hands at milking cows in the parlor. If you missed out, you still have a chance to visit next week, from May 11-13, when Shelburne Farms will host a three-day tour of artisanal cheese-making.
