SGA Emergency Meeting to Address Room Draw

Author: Anne Jennings

At an emergency Student Government Association (SGA) meeting scheduled for 4:15 p.m. today, Residential Systems Coordinator Mariah McKechnie '01 will present several scenarios of how block housing may be distributed among the commons.

The SGA will pick one of these scenarios to be instituted for this year's room draw.

The scenarios were presented to the commons' deans this morning for consideration and approval.

Also still undecided is how junior counselors (JCs) benefit in this year's room draw. They will either receive more than one random number to be used in block and open draws, or will receive a priority number for use only in open draw.

After speaking with a JC, McKechnie said, the student commented that "either plan sounds fine."

She was "pleasantly surprised" by the ease with which the new plan has been accepted by the student body.

She said she had received "pretty much all positive feedback on this plan" after an article outlining the plan was printed in the Feb. 20 edition of The Middlebury Campus.

Commons informational meetings about the new room draw system have been rescheduled for March 14. The room draw Web site should be updated and ready this Friday.
