Letter to the Editor: Doug Sinclair

To the Editor:

Over the past nine months, time and again, Middlebury students have extended a helping hand to fellow citizens of our community who are coping with poverty. On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Middlebury Community Care Coalition, I write to thank you for your exceptional, heartwarming contributions. Whenever the opportunity arose to offer support, you responded in a big way.

You contributed over 3,000 hours staffing the emergency shelter at Charter House, the Community Suppers and the Community Lunches — always with a big smile. You gave many hours helping to maintain buildings and grounds. You did the heavy lifting on several Saturdays collecting and distributing donated apartment furnishings. Through your own initiatives, you raised over $3,000 in the last nine months supporting the housing and food programs. Every day you contribute to making our community a better place. Our hats are off to all of you.

For all the seniors we have come to respect and know so well, we wish you all the best as your move on to new challenges. For all who will be returning next year, we will miss you over the summer and will be looking forward to the return of the energy and enthusiasm you bring to bear on the challenges of poverty in our community.Be well, have a great summer and safe travels.

Sincerely,
Doug Sinclair
President, Middlebury Community
