Local Editors brainstorm and assign articles about what goes on in the town of Middlebury (and around Vermont!), correspond with writers, and edit the finished pieces to be published in our weekly newspaper. To apply, please send a statement of interest (1-2 paragraphs) and a writing sample (most likely, an article you've written for The Campus) to Senior Local Editor Becca Amen (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Opinions Editors participate in Editorial Board discussions, help draft the weekly editorial on behalf of the Editorial Board, and solicit and edit op-eds from the Middlebury community. Online Editors will publish articles, videos, advertisements, and other media to our website, with an eye for accuracy and stylistic consistency. Online Editors will also get to influence the appearance and operation of our website, with the opportunity to advance into the Digital Director position in the future. Experience with WordPress or similar platforms is helpful but not required. Copy Editors provide the final read on articles to search for grammatical errors and style mistakes. A familiarity with AP Style is helpful but not required. Layout Editors design the pages of The Campus in Adobe InDesign for our weekly newspaper. Experience with InDesign is helpful but not required. The Business Manager creates and handles the budget of The Campus, works with businesses to sell advertisements for the newspaper and handles subscriptions. Experience overseeing organization budgets is helpful but not required.
