The Knoll’s biggest event of the year is just around the corner. After a year and a half of planning, the Knoll will soon begin its 20th anniversary celebrations, just in time for families coming to campus next weekend.

As student organizations submit budgets to be approved for the following year each spring, some fall short of receiving the full funding they request. Funding for clubs comes from the student activity fee that each student pays with their tuition. Middlebury’s Henry Sheldon Museum is celebrating the 50th anniversary of their Stewart-Smith Research Center with a new exhibit featuring documents from the center refashioned into collages. Governor Phil Scott recently signed legislation that exempts Vermont Native American tribes from property taxes. This comes as a relief to many tribe members, who say that their communities struggle with the financial burden of these taxes.

Sabai Sabai, Middlebury’s local Thai restaurant, recently reopened after a seven-week closure for renovations. During this time, the restaurant added a hot food bar that holds poké and ready-made dishes. The renovations were in response to the struggles the business faced during the pandemic, the owner said.
Doug Butler, a resident of Middlebury, is a dairy farmer-turned-dogsled racer whose story was captured in a feature-length documentary by filmmaker Tommy Hyde ’14.5 that premiered in September of 2021.
