Not only was the score the same as last week, but the storyline was, too. The Panthers' only touchdown came when Tiger Lyon '07 found Evan Beilin '09 on a short out-pattern, on which Beilin broke a pair of tackles en route to a 77-yard score. Last week at Hamilton, it was this same combination that hooked up for a touchdown. The remaining three points came from Steve Hauschka's '07 right foot. His 32-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, his tenth of the year, broke the school's single-season record.
The Middlebury defense was dominant as usual, earning its third shutout of the year. Erik Woodring '08 led the way with 17 tackles, giving him 88, for the season and Kevin Ryan '07 ended the day with four tackles and two sacks. His 15.5 sacks on the season are both a Middlebury and NESCAC single-season record.
Captain Scott Secor '07 ended his career in the Middlebury record book as well. He ranks third on the all-time tackles list with 223.
"In years past, the captains were looked to for the majority of the leadership, said Secor. "This year we took on the leadership role as an entire senior class and I think you saw the outcome of that on the field."
